Real magic: Blog messages are magical

Do you believe in magic?

No, I'm not talking about the magician's sleight of hand tricks, ancient castles, or even some magical potion as portrayed in the movies. Instead, we want to discuss the power of real magic. You won't find this type of magic in an old wand or some ancient cauldron. Instead, it's easily recognized as the mail box, your telephone, or your computer e-mail system.

Reach out to others and discover the true meaning of magic.

The magic isn't in the technology used for the communications, it's the message that is being delivered. For example, when you send an e-mail to a friend, or send them a card or letter, you brighten their day. Your seemingly simple act of friendship possessed a power beyond some fairy tale sorcery. You changed someone's life.

If you are needing help with a difficult problem, and you call or e-mail someone requesting assistance, you are putting magic to work. By not making contact with anyone, nothing happens. By sending out a message, entire worlds can change. Your request for help will probably be answered with kindness, as most people want to be helpful to others. In this increasingly complex world, the most basic human interaction becomes even more important.

That's real magic at work.

As bloggers, we already understand the power of the written word for sharing our thoughts and ideas with others. For many people, the simple act of writing blog posts is a world changing act. Even a personal diary blog, describing the events of the day, has the power to help the writer understand the day to day events of life. Sharing and discussing experiences helps the blogger to feel that others can identify with their lives. Instead of feeling alone and isolated, the blogger can find a powerful and empathetic support group, only an e-mail or a call away.

For business and professional bloggers, their individual worlds can change beyond recognition. Business blogs help build relationships with potential and current customers and clients. While the blog requires work, and the relationships must be nurtured, many lives can be changed for the better. As bloggers get to know one another, friendships and business ideas are shared, helping one another to achieve greater success. Many bloggers form partnerships and companies. Now that's changing a world for the better. It's powerful magic in action for the betterment of everyone.

Reaching out to others, and sharing thoughts, experiences, and ideas is true magic. It doesn't require special esoteric training, or years poring over ancient texts. All it requires is basic human interaction. Blogs are conversation starters, used in place of magical spells, and much more effective. As people interact back and forth, some powerful changes take place during the communications. Friendships and relationships are built from the trust created through talking to each other.

The real magic in the world is created by helping one another. Yes, interpersonal magic can change the world in many wonderful and often unexpected ways.

Do you believe in real magic?

It's the magic of sharing with others.

There is no hocus pocus in that!

Blog comedy: Internet marketing made easy

Two men are in their favourite watering hole discussing the great issues of the day. Of course, the more modest issues of life take centre stage as always.

Mr. Codswallop: Have you considered internet marketing as a business?
Mr. Flapdoodle: You can sell the internet?
Mr. Codswallop: No. What I mean have you utilized the internet as a marketing vehicle?
Mr. Flapdoodle: Don't get me started on that.
Mr. Codswallop: You have unresolved issues with internet marketing?
Mr. Flapdoodle: No. I bought a used car on eBay once.
Mr. Codswallop: What sort of automobile did you acquire?
Mr. Flapdoodle: An old one that was a piece of junk.

Mr. Codswallop: Did you not examine the vehicle prior to placing your bid?
Mr. Flapdoodle: It looked newer and a lot better in the picture (see left).
Mr. Codswallop: I hope you didn't pay too much for that dreadful purchase.
Mr. Flapdoodle: I got it home and it never ran at all.
Mr. Codswallop: Perhaps you should report some negative feedback about the seller.
Mr. Flapdoodle: Well, I got negative feedback from the guys who stole it.
Mr. Codswallop: Why on earth would anyone pilfer such a deplorable machine?
Mr. Flapdoodle: It was the city council claiming it was a derelict.
Mr. Codswallop: Do you have any recourse?

Mr. Flapdoodle: They agreed to pay me for the salvage value. (see left)
Mr. Codswallop: I hope it was sufficient to prevent too much of a financial loss.
Mr. Flapdoodle: It sure was. They gave me double what I paid for it.
Mr. Codswallop: Then it all turned out well in the end.
Mr. Flapdoodle: When I think about it, maybe this internet business isn't so bad.
Mr. Codswallop: Many people are building successful internet based businesses.
Mr. Flapdoodle: Even I doubled my money on the internet.
Mr. Codswallop: If you could do it, then it can't be very difficult.
Mr. Flapdoodle: I just have to keep parking those cars where the city will tow them.
Mr. Codswallop: I would suggest not pushing your luck on that one.
Mr. Flapdoodle: Maybe I'll write about cars on eBay on my blog.
Mr. Codswallop: That might be a better plan after all.

Blog introductions: Sharing those you know

Bloggers know many people. Not only are bloggers on a first name basis with other bloggers who share their interests, but the blog itself has helped to create a wider network of personal contacts. Networking is just one more blog benefit. Bloggers know bloggers.

Blogs build interpersonal relationships simply by being on the internet. Bloggers make contact with other bloggers, and often join such networking groups as Friendster and LinkedIn. Along with joining these social networking communities, bloggers recommend other bloggers for membership. Through these interconnected groupings, bloggers meet other non-bloggers in both related and unrelated fields. Blogging helps you to get to know other people.

Bloggers can also help to widen the circle of contacts for one another. Most members of the various blogging communites either know one another personally; or or are aware of each other's work. For example, most members of the business blogging community share contacts that span almost every business blog in the blogosphere. Bloggers can help one another even more by sharing those contacts with others through introductions. Bloggers can be very powerful connection builders.

By sharing those bloggers whom you know with others, you are helping other bloggers to succeed. The wonderful thing about bloggers is we don't even need to dream of competinf with one another. With literally billions of websites, representing an almost infinite potential customer and client pool, there is more than enough business for everyone. In fact, by introducing some bloggers to one another, you might even enhance your own business network in the future. One introduction usually leads to many more contacts being made in both the short and the long run.

Look over your list of bloggers and talk with other bloggers. Mention a few bloggers you know well by name, and whom you feel comfortable in sharing. Most people will be flattered that you helped them to connect with new people. After all, people are happy to help others succeed. Here's your chance to do precisely that good deed.

Helping two or more bloggers get to know one another is a win-win result for everyone involved. They get to know one another and that meeting can lead to friendships, business relationships, and even romance. You develop a reputation within the blogging community as a connector, and as someone who knows everyone else. As your introduction total grows, so too will your own contact list.

Blogging leads to connections through conversation. Start those talks going by introducing two bloggers to one another.
