My post is titled "Run With the Bulls by Tim Irwin - Book review" where I evaluate and discuss how the metaphor of the famous running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, as analogous to how modern corporations operate, is the powerful insight made by author Tim Irwin in Run With the Bulls Without Getting Trampled: The Qualities You Need to Stay Out of Harm's Way And Thrive at Work. The bulls don't care if the throng of runners is in the way of their objective to reach their fresh grass pastures. The modern corporation, in the same way, is only concerned with achieving its own goals.

Erin Blaskie: Virtual assistants as more than virtual partners - Blog Business Success Radio

blog radio

Entrepreneur, virtual assistant, and blogger Erin Blaskie of Business Services, ETC shares ideas for saving time and money, delegating routine tasks, and building a profitable solo or small business, as my internet radio show guest on Blog Business Success; hosted live on Blog Talk Radio.

The show airs live on Thursday, May 31, at 8:00 pm Eastern Time; 5:00 pm Pacific Time.

Erin Blaskie discusses how working with a virtual assistant can be a valuable partnership for any business. You will learn:

* The cost and time saving benefits of working with a virtual assistant

* The importance of delegation of routine and time sensitive tasks to others

* How corporate outsourcing created opportunites for virtual assistant businesses

* How solo business partnerships can compete successfully with much larger companies

After just three years, Erin Blaskie (photo left) has been fortunate enough to grow, live and experience the entrepreneurial dream.

From the time she was small, Erin always thought with an entrepreneurial mind. She would arrange bake sales and lemonade stands in her small town and she would set up a faux office at home in which she would delegate work - primarily to her younger sister.

When Erin was just 16 years old, she had an idea of servicing multiple businesses in her local area - all from her own office location or from home. She imagined and drew up in her head a plan to launch her own business and to be able to pick and choose the businesses she worked with.

In August of 2004, she launched her virtual assistance business - Business Services, ETC - and began virtually servicing clients from around the world. She attracted clients almost instantly and within six months of the business’ debut, she left the corporate world and focused solely on her virtual assistance business.

A year after launch, Erin had the distinct pleasure of assisting two of her clients sell their businesses and successfully reach their desired exit strategies. Being involved in a business from start-up to selling point has given her incredible experience in what it takes to manage, build and prepare a business to reach its goal.

Today, Erin assists some of the top internet entrepreneurs and business owners with their administrative and technical needs. She provides a wide variety of services and acts as a business partner to her clients instead of just a task-based provider.

In the past six months, she has written a variety of e-books, produced a number of new and exciting ventures, and has been featured as a guest expert on different teleseminars.

The future is bright for this entrepreneur who, in her early twenties, has already had the opportunity to learn from the brightest, work alongside the driven and has been supported by a great network of both friends and colleagues.

Run With The Bulls by Tim Irwin - Book review

Run With the Bulls Without Getting Trampled

The Qualities You Need to Stay Out of Harm's Way And Thrive at Work

By: Tim Irwin

Published: Jan 2, 2007
ISBN: 9780785219514
Format: Hardcover
Publisher: Nelson Business

The metaphor of the famous running with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, as analogous to how modern corporations operate, is the powerful insight made by author Tim Irwin in Run With the Bulls Without Getting Trampled: The Qualities You Need to Stay Out of Harm's Way And Thrive at Work. The bulls don't care if the throng of runners is in the way of their objective to reach their fresh grass pastures. The modern corporation, in the same way, is only concerned with achieving its own goals.

Just as a rampaging bull can trample a careless runner, a corporation can run over an employee who fails to understand the coporate imperatives. There are cardinal rules, passed from one bull runner to another, so too are there techniques of survival in the corporate structure. Knowing how to avoid the goring horns and heavy hooves, of a herd of charging bulls, can save a person's life. At the same time, the knowledge of how corporations pursue their own goals can save an employee's career.

Author and international speaker Tim Irwin provides a masterful blend of metaphor and unflinchingly trenchant advice for the aspiring corporate executive. Combining humour and stories, the author provides insights into his essential core values of thoughtful committment, authentic character, and exceptional competence. He believes people possessing these qualities will succeed in any aspect of business or personal life. Combining personal courage and ethical integrity, with hard work and knowledge, are the author's keys to success and happiness.

For me, the power of Run With the Bulls Without Getting Trampled: The Qualities You Need to Stay Out of Harm's Way And Thrive at Work by Tim Irwin is the emphasis on honesty, committment, and ethics. His powerful and motivational stories show clearly how possessing the courage to do the right thing, and that standing by your ethical convictions, is also the road to success and personal fulfilment.

The book also conveys the message that corporate actions are related to the attainment of their goals. The organization isn't concerned with your goals, and by not understanding the corporate objectives, you will be trampled by the bulls. Aligning your own interests and convictions, with those of the company, will result in a win-win result for everyone.

I recommend Run With the Bulls Without Getting Trampled: The Qualities You Need to Stay Out of Harm's Way And Thrive at Work by Tim Irwin to anyone who seeks an ethical business career based on personal courage and integrity. The book is not about getting ahead by trampling others, but about the avoidance of the charging bulls yourself, by understanding their motivations and goals, and by knowing the rules of survival.

Read Run With the Bulls Without Getting Trampled: The Qualities You Need to Stay Out of Harm's Way And Thrive at Work by Tim Irwin and you too can run successfully with the bulls, and share in their glory as well.

Rich by Choice

Seven Steps to Financial Success

Author: Erlend Peterson

Published: 2nd Ed, 2007
Revised Edition: 2007
ISBN: 9780929765990
Format: Paperback, 192pp
Publisher: Seven Locks Press

You can choose to be wealthy, to the tune of two million dollars, writes Erlend Peterson, in his book Rich by Choice: Seven Steps to Financial Success. He shows you how you can become wealthy using time, and the application of his straightforward rules for financial well being. In fact, the author demonstrates how anyone can become wealthy. He shows that it's only a matter of time, and of choosing to be rich.

Financial planner Erlend Peterson sets out his seven steps to wealth accumulation in a series of easy to follow lessons. Each step is designed so anyone, regardless of their current financial status or investment knowledge level, can succeed. He starts off with some case studies, of people at various ages and levels of wealth, and emphasises that each person can become wealthy. Where you start isn't as important as where you complete the wealth building process. The major variable is time.

Erlend Peterson (photo left) writes with a no nonsense approach to capital accumulation. Unlike many other books, that are heavy on theory and cliche, Rich by Choice is packed with hard numbers and examples to serve as guides to your own successful future.

On the other hand, the numbers are presented in a very accessible format, to prevent the average reader from becoming bogged down with complicated mathematics. Instead of unwieldy formulas, the book provides easy to comprehend charts, that anyone can internalize and implement for themselves.

For me, the power of the book is in its presentation of a difficult subject in an easy to understand manner. Concepts like the power of compound interest, taxation, and retirement planning are often difficult for many people to grasp. The author presents them in layman's terms, and with examples for the average reader to grasp and put into practice. At the same time, the book shows a powerful seven step program for becoming rich, if the reader so chooses. The liberating idea, that anyone can build substantial wealth, is a powerful one that is imprinted on every page.

I recommend Rich by Choice: Seven Steps to Financial Success by Erlend Peterson for anyone seeking to become wealthy and independent. The seven steps to wealth are powerful and can change a person's life, and the lives of their families for the better.

Read Rich by Choice: Seven Steps to Financial Success by Erlend Peterson and choose to be rich.

Elaine Allison discusses leadership techniques for women, and the gender differences between men and women, and how they can help women succeed. You will learn:

* How men and women have different leadership and management styles

* Why tactics used by men may not be helpful for women in leadership roles

* How women can solve the day to day managerial issues that arise in the workplace

Elaine Allison (photo left) is a management consultant, professional speaker, a wife and mother. She has enthralled audiences from coast to coast in both Canada and the United States with her lively presentations and affable style. She is a particular favorite at women's conferences and was rated as the #1 performer for this audience by Park University Enterprises, one of the largest international training companies in North America.

Early in her career, Elaine began honing her insights into the differences between how men and women lead and manage. She was one of Canada's first female prison guards in an all "male" maximum security correctional facility at the age of nineteen. Dealing almost entirely with men, at a time when men made it clear that they did not want women in their domain. Elaine had a "crash course" in understanding how we interact with each other and manage people, as her life virtually depended on it! She began to truly observe how women dealt with conflict, leadership and power, themes she built on in each new position in her career.

With several articles printed in industry publications and as a contributing author to Speak Up, Speak Out (a book on running a speaking and consulting business), this upcoming author and international speaker is determined to make a difference in the lives of women leaders around the world.

An abundant world: Unlimited opportunities

The world (photo left from Apollo 17) in which we live is teeming with abundance. While there may be some products, commodities, and services in relatively short supply, there is more than enough for what you seek in your life. Whether you seek material wealth, or personal freedom and happiness, you just have to open your eyes to the world's possibilities.

Many of us were taught that everything is in short supply and that competition is the only way to achieve personal success. In fact, the opposite is true if you approach the issue of abundance from another direction. Instead of seeing the half empty glass, it's time to look at the hundreds of overflowing glasses next to it. Changing your focus from the partial glass to the opportunities surrounding it, can make all the difference. There is no need to compete for that partial glass, when you can cooperate with others and have dozens of full glasses, as a team.

Regardless of your personal or business goals, there are resources and assistance available to you. The comodities, products, services, or help may not be the ones you thought were required initially either. They may be even better than your previous choices. Working with others, as a partner or by providing help to them, will usually pay undreamed of dividends. Payment may not only be in dollars, but can also be in new found friendships and business alliances. Think beyond the finite, and embrace the infinite potential of the world.

People are willing to help you to achieve success. Most of the men and women you meet in life want to assist you in reaching your goals. While a few may decline to help, they may steer you in the direction of just the right person to guide you in your quest.

All personal contacts are good to make, and be sure to create a win-win scenario with everyone you meet. Offer to help them in return and be sure to thank them for their contribution to your personal and business development; and for becoming a very important part of your life.

Abundance doesn't disappear with economic downturns and recessions either. It merely changes form. That is the importance of keeping your eyes open and accepting changes as they happen. Your business and personal life are in constant motion toward the future, and so is the larger economy. Keeping an open mind, and keen eye for changes in trends, will enable you to spot abundance in resources and opportunities as they appear.

Some huge fortunes, and some wonderful friendships, were made during the Great Depression of the 1930's, by those who sought abundance in resources; and who asked assistance from others, and offered even more aid in return. Those who failed to adapt to the dramatic economic changes, and to reach out to others, were very often wiped out.

The world is one of abundance. There are unlimited opportunities for you, but you must seek them out by keeping your eyes open to changes. Ask others for help, and offer even more in return. Develop mutually beneficial business partnerships, even with those you thought were your competitors. The unlimited benefits received in personal friendships, guidance, and opportunities are even more valuable than the probable financial rewards.

Be sure to repay with kindness, and to thank everyone who helped you.

We live in an abundant world. Keep your eyes open to the unlimited opportunities it offers us all.

Two Weeks To A Breakthrough by Lisa Haneberg - Book Review

Two Weeks to a Breakthrough

How to Zoom Toward Your Goal in 14 Days or Less

By: Lisa Haneberg

Published: Feb 26, 2007
ISBN: 9780787984823
Format: Hardcover, 133pp
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons Inc.

Achieving your business or personal goals is possible, writes author Lisa Haneberg in her provocatively titled Two Weeks to a Breakthrough. Not only is a noticeable advance probable, but indeed major progress toward a goal can be experienced in a mere two weeks. It's all about achieving a breakthrough, and making what amounts to a quantum leap, as you stride toward your goal or even your lifelong dream.

Lisa Haneberg sets out a fourteen day program for reaching even what appear to be the most improbable dreams. More than a simple guidebook to accomplishment, the book is also about considering possibilities. It's about seeing the world with different eyes, and understanding that other people will help you along your path to success. Instead of discouraging pie in the sky daydreaming, Lisa openly encourages letting your mind soar to unimagined new heights. She also keeps your feet planted firmly on the ground by recommending practical steps to apply each day.

Lisa Haneberg (photo left) presents her breakthrough achievement program in a delightful and friendly manner. Like a friend offering life changing advice, Lisa coaches the reader in a refreshingly cheerful and encouraging way. The collaborative approach is essential to the success of the plan, as many people would be highly skeptical of achieving anything remotely approximating a breakthrough, in only two weeks.

On the contrary, as Lisa suggests, greatly surpassing the originally stated goal, is an even more probable outcome. It just takes the same small steps toward the target. In fact, the journey may be even more important than the goal itself. The learning about your own strengths and weaknesses, and the overcoming of debilitating fears, are a powerful breakthrough on their own. We are all our own worst critics, and once that self destructive inner chatter is silenced, you discover the courage to aim for even higher mountains to climb in the future. Putting your faith in the process will achieve undreamed of results.

For me, the power of Two Weeks to a Breakthrough is in the strength of the process and how its application are presented. Lisa Haneberg provides a step by step system, of taking a few small steps each day, that makes the journey as exciting as the desired end point. The tasks of sharing the idea and asking for help are tiny ones in themselves, but any one of them can open a door to that magical breakthrough. Being suddenly propelled beyond all expectations is empowering, and satisfying in unimaginable ways.

I strongly recommend that you read Two Weeks to a Breakthrough by Lisa Haneberg. The process alone can be applied to conquering any goal in either your personal or business life. The process is the same, and the breakthrough potential is unlimited.

Let Two Weeks to a Breakthrough by Lisa Haneberg guide you to the breakthrough of a lifetime.

Carnival of the Vanities 242 at Silflay Hraka

The 242nd edition of the longest running internet blog carnival, the well known Carnival of the Vanities continues at Kehaar's Silflay Hraka.

The carnival, and indeed the entire blog carnival concept, was born over four years ago at Bigwig's Silflay Hraka blog. It is now back home to Silflay Hraka, as Bigwig's brother Kehaar has assumed the reins with great results.

Carnival of the Vanities is the original collection of blog postings, assembling some of the best and wide ranging bloggers on the internet.

This week's Carnival of the Vanities entries include politics, literature, religion, humour, and business.

I have an entry in this week's Carnival of the Vanities as well.

My post is titled "Solving business problems: Seeing patterns" where I discuss when you talk to many business people, they are convinced that the problems associated with their industry are like those experienced elsewhere. Not only do they believe their industry is unique in the business world, but their own company is one of a kind as well.

The host says the preferred participation option is to simply enter at Blog Carnival.

As I suggest elsewhere, hosting and contributing to the various internet blog carnivals is a great promotional idea for your blog.

When you send an entry to Carnival of the Vanities, or any of the many internet blog Carnivals, don't forget to link to the hosted edition. It's not only common courtesy, but helps to increase visitor traffic for all entrants. It also shows your appreciation of the hard work done by the host in preparing the post. Everyone shares in the benefits of the expanded Carnival readership.

Show the Carnival some linky love.

Next week's edition of Carnival of the Vanities appears once again at Kehaar's Silflay Hraka.

In the meantime, head on over to the Silflay Hraka hosting of Carnival of the Vanities and enjoy the posts on offer.

You will almost certainly be introduced to some great new and interesting blogs.

Janine Bolon and Michael Mihalik: Personal Finance Success Secrets - Blog Business Success Radio

blog radio

Authors, and personal finance experts, Janine Bolon, author of
Money...It's Not Just for Rich People! , and Michael Mihalik, author of Debt is Slavery and 9 Other Things I Wish My Dad Had Taught Me About Money share ideas for personal money management, wealth building, and becoming debt free, as my internet radio show guests on Blog Business Success; hosted live on Blog Talk Radio.

The show airs live on Thursday, May 10, at 8:00 pm Eastern Time; 5:00 pm Pacific Time.

Janine Bolon and Michael Mihalik discuss proven techniques, drawn from their own personal and often tumultuous financial experience, for getting your personal finances in order. You will learn:

* How to think of money differently from how you view it now

* Why personal debt is a barrier to your financial freedom

* How to accumulate wealth for retirement, regardless of the age you begin

* Some painless money saving ideas you can apply to your personal spending

Janine Bolon (photo left) never had a desire to teach financial principles.

Her vision was to have enough assets so that her husband could retire from corporate life in only 14 years. So, she dug even deeper into the literature on frugality and financial well being, implemented the principles, and BANG! Her husband Brad retired from corporate life in only seven years - even while they added three more children and were challenged with a series of serious medical conditions.

They followed what Janine calls universal principles of wealth accumulation. How does she know that these principles are true? Simple. They used them to gain their own family financial independence, and Ishe been helping other families to collect wealth by mentoring them in these same concepts. The whole focus of her site called SmartCents is to teach other people how to succeed with money as well. Her latest book is titled Money...It's Not Just for Rich People!.

Michael Mihalik (photo left) grew up in Seattle, Washington and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington. During college, Michael ran up huge debts by using credit cards to finance a lifestyle he couldn’t afford. Even after he graduated and began work as an aerospace engineer, his debts exploded out of control.

At first, Michael was overwhelmed and felt like a slave to his finances, but he soon became determined to pay off his debt. He discovered that before he could change the way he handled money, he had to change the way he thought about money. He created a money philosophy that freed him from the slavery of debt and led him to a life of financial prosperity and control.

Michael has since refined his philosophy about money. He has created a set of ideas and rules for financial security that can be applied at any income level. Michael's book is titled Debt is Slavery and 9 Other Things I Wish My Dad Had Taught Me About Money.
