Since 1998, Catherine Nomura (photo left) has been focused on identifying and shaping new growth opportunities for The Strategic Coach®, first as Director of Marketing, and most recently, as Director of Business Development. She joined the company because she was attracted by the work it was doing to help entrepreneurs build bigger futures around their unique talents and passions.

This move was a natural evolution of her desire to learn how individuals could grow in a way that honored their values, unique experiences, skills, and knowledge. Before joining The Strategic Coach®, Catherine studied and worked with organizations that provided support and financing for poor entrepreneurs in developing countries to grow their businesses. She has also worked in the financial services industry in Canada.

Her main objective since joining The Strategic Coach® has been to bring the company's unique tools and wisdom to wider audiences in strategic ways that also contribute to the growth of its core coaching business.

Catherine holds a master's degree in political economy of development from the University of Toronto and an MBA with a specialization in entrepreneurship from the University of Victoria.

Outside her work with The Strategic Coach®, she continues to consult with social entrepreneurs around the world, helping them turn their visions into realities.

Catherine is co-author of Unique Ability®: Creating The Life You Want, editor of the Creative Destruction series for financial advisors, and co-author of the book, The Laws of Lifetime Growth with Dan Sullivan (Berrett-Koehler, January 2006).

In fact, the emphasis on goal setting, and reaching them through enjoyable small steps, demonstrates the strengths of the concepts. The laws are readily applicable for anyone in any situation and time of their life. The book challenges a person to dare to dream and discover creative means of building a better tomorrow.

For me, the power of the book is two fold. First of all, the book provides the step by step techniques for developing an elephant removal process. By following the methods recommended in the book, any organization regardless of size or sector can achieve powerful results. More importantly, those enhanced results are achieved by ensuring that individuals can improve their personal job satisfaction as well. That joining of personal and organizational goals, for the benefit of everyone, is crucial to making a positive cultural change.

The second power of the book is in its personal empowerment. Anyone can take the initiative to make positive change within the organization, and achieve positive results. Leadership does not have to be handed down from on high, but can work upwards from the front lines of the company. That ability to make cultural improvements, on a personal level, will develop longer lasting cultural changes and greater productivity.
