Podcasts: Book promotion and marketing tool



Book reviews and interviews with authors have usually appeared in print. Thanks to the power of blogging, print interviews and book reviews have expanded the totals. Combined with the traditional mainstream media, more and more print book reviews, and interviews and feature articles on the writers, blogs have added more opportunities for writers.

But blogs are not about print alone. Enter the podcast. As technology expands, and the podcast and its associated hardware will become part of everyday life. Podcasts and audio blogging will soon join print blogging as another tool in an author's book promotion toolbox.

One source of podcasts with authors, is Chris Gondek, Producer and Host of The Invisible Hand Podcast. Chris also blogs at Invisible Handwriting: A Podcaster's Blog, which naturally, focusses on podcasting.

Recently Chris sat down with Shel Israel and talked about Shel's collaborative book co-authored with well known blogger and technology expert Robert Scoble. The book under discussion is titled Naked Conversations. The resulting conversation became a podcast.

About the author podcast, Chris Gondek had this to say:





I did a 45 minute podcast with Shel Israel on the book Naked Conversations, a book on blogging and business. We talked about the book and some off topic points, such as the difference in authorial voice between powerpoint and blogging, the future of blogging in China, why a good blog is like being a good guest at a party, etc. I'm happy with how the show turned out and I think it gives a thorough sense of the book.
