I mean a huge, drive an eighteen wheeler through it sideways in a skid flaw.
They never have a category for business blogs.
Ever.
They always hae about thirty-seven political blog categories.
You know the ones.
Best conservative, best liberal, best libertarian, best fascist, best communist, best socialist, best internationalist, best anti-internationalist, best pro-United Nations, best anti-United Nations, best politician's blog, best politician's speech writer's blog, best political intern's blog, best out of office forever politician's blog, funniest liberal, funniest conservative, and dozens more best -isms blogs in the same vein.
Even "Best Overall Blog", "Best Group Blog", and "Best Humour Blogs" are packed with political blogs.
Don't get me wrong.
I like political blogs and have no problems with them getting their due, along with sports blogs, legal blog, and technology blogs.
I regularly read tons of blogs from all of those categories. I link to many of them.
You would think, however, in a competition with two hundred and fifty odd, or thereabouts categories, they could at least open up one space for business blogs.
The fact that business, marketing, public relations, human resources, employment, finance, advertising, branding, accounting and other business related blogs are one of the fastest growing segments of the blogosphere, that the judges would have noticed them by now.
Guess not.
I just was pointed to the 2004 Canadian Blog Awards (via Best Humourous Blog nominee Bacon and Ehs) and noticed that business blogs were not included.
You don't think so?
Well, here are the choices:

2) Best Liberal Blog
3) Best Conservative Blog
4) Best Group Blog
5) Most Humourous Blog
6) Best Non-Political Blog
7) Best New Blog (started in 2004)
8) Best Blog Design
See what I mean?
No business blog category.
So what else is new?
In fact, political blogs are tacitly acknowledged, as so dominant in all categories anyway, by the need to include a "Best Non-Political Blog" category.
I suppose otherwise, there might have been a clean sweep for those writing about politics.
It's time that the blog awards programs considered the many tremendous and fast rising business blogs out there in blog land.
The many talented business bloggers deserve at least one little category too.
Starting in 2005, all blog awards shows should definitely include a "Best Business Blog" category.
