Renting out your talents as a blogger is no longer permitted on the internet auction giant eBay.
Jeremy Wright of Ensight, along with Darren Barefoot of DarrenBarefoot.com, successfully contracted blogging services via eBay auction. They were the first and the last to be allowed to do so.
Jeremy Wright received a letter informing him that eBay was not permitting the sale of services on their site. Their auctions are restricted to the sale of tangible, physical items.
It could be argued, I suppose, that the finished blog posts are as tangible as you can get, in the virtual internet world.
In any case, the die has been cast.
Blogger services contracts are now an industry, whether salable on eBay or not.
Private negotiations are still a viable option as they are for any other service business.
I privately contract for search engine optimization services and for free lance writing, for example.
Professional bloggers will do the same thing.
eBay will miss out on a ton of sales commissions in the end, but that is their choice too.
